Recent developments in AI (Artifical Intelligence) have been staggering, in scope and in speed. It offers many opportunities and promising business cases in any sector. In some jurisdictions AI-specific laws (e.g. EU AI act) are in place to protect society when trying to deal with unintended or undesired consequences of AI-usage.

In this session, we start exploring the pitfalls of AI and what aspects to look for to pinpoint where ethical considerations should be made. Generative AI’s seemingly harmless errors can have far-reaching consequences. Based on this awareness, we’ll discuss what ethical principles are important to include in our strategic decision-making, but also e.g. in the organization’s code of conduct, to mitigate the risk of harm caused by unethical behavior of AI applications used.
To prepare for this session, you are invited to do some brain gymnastics by exploring what ethical dilemmas you face in the following cases:
• generative AI providing your health advice
• credit scoring systems
• surveillance camera in your office
• drones hovering over wildlife parks to look for poachers and fires
The insights of this masterclass provide a valuable and essential questioning tool in forming your moral judgment for (managing) directors and supervisory board members.
This MD-session offers insights from both psychology and corporate governance on moral judgment, and moral identity of the invasion of AI. The practical tools it provides assist you in dealing with moral dilemmas you have to act upon in the boardroom. Using real-life cases, the trainer describes the sometimes contradictory considerations that (managing) directors and supervisory board members have to deal with.

It provides fascinating examples and insights into moral case law: references to the use of moral considerations or norms when making decisions in the arena of moral dilemmas.
